Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center ( OpenELEC) is a small Linux distribution built from scratch as a platform to turn a computer into an XBMC media center, which is an open source entertainment media hub. OpenELEC 3.1.6 has been released following the new versioning scheme:

" The OpenELEC-3.1 release series are test releases (beta) for OpenELEC-3.2. OpenELEC-3.2 will be the next stable release, which is a feature release and the successor of OpenELEC-3.0. This release has some bugfixes and speed improvements. Besides the usual bugfixes and package updates we also added some more backports from XBMC Gotham for Raspberry Pi. We also included patches for: speedup fanart and thumbnails loading, network caching, GUI optimizations, avahi/zeroconf bugfixes and improvements, samba bugfixes and improvements."
