Etherpad 是一個線上共制平臺，三、四個人可以坐在自己電腦前，同時對一份文件修改，也同時看到其他人的修改，不必鎖文件或什么的。

Etherpad 號稱是「Really Real-time Collaboration」，是那些競爭者的更進化版，拿Google Docs來說，雖然Google Docs也可以共同編輯一個線上文件，但Etherpad可將每個人改的地方透過不一樣的顏色秀出來，在「Undo」功能上亦較為完整，而且，它還完全稟 持之前寫過的「第三代網址」的網站新設計法，不需要申請會員帳號，直接進去就開始敲東西，用一個URL就可以寄給同事馬上開始共同寫一份文件！
