Korora的誕生是為了讓Linux對新手而言更易于使用的同時對專業用戶依然有用。Korora的主旨是為通用計算提供一份完整的、易于使用的系統。起初在2005年它是基于Gentoo Linux的，但在2010年Korora重新以Fedora衍化的形式問世，并帶有額外的微調及部件，以讓系統能開箱即用。
Chris Smart has announced the availability of the beta build of Korora 20, a set of Fedora-based distributions in Cinnamon, GNOME, KDE, MATE and Xfce editions: " The Korora project is pleased to announce the first beta release of version 20 (code name 'Peach') which is now available for download. This is the first beta release of Korora which is derived from a beta release of Fedora 20 and as such there will likely be a larger number of bugs and many software updates." What's new? " For the first time we are introducing an Xfce desktop; GNOME 3.10 will have a number of new applications and new features; KDE Plasma Workspaces 4.11 includes faster Nepomuk indexing; application Installer brings a new interface for installing packages in GNOME....."
