Snowlinux是一套基于Debian最新穩定版本的Linux發行，其特色在于四種桌面環境：GNOME、KDE、LXDE、Xfce。其宗旨是用戶友好性、集成多種有用的調整及精心挑選的應用軟件。該項目還單獨開發一份基于Ubuntu的樣式，其特色是MATE桌面（乃GNOME 2的分支）。

Lars Torben has announced the availability of the first beta release of Snowlinux 5, a new version of the project's Debian-based distribution featuring the MATE desktop environment: " The team is proud to announce the release of Snowlinux 5 'Flurry' beta. This new beta releases mostly improves the system itself. We're now using GPG-signed repositories and the ISO images were built by a build server. Snowlinux 5 'Flurry' is based upon Debian GNU/Linux 7.0 'Wheezy' and uses Linux kernel 3.10. It comes with the MATE 1.6 desktop. New features: SnowMount, Firefox and Thunderbird 24, Snowlinux HD backgrounds, updated software, improved speed and response, system improvements. Make sure to read the release notes to be aware of important information and known issues related to this release. Snowlinux 5 will be supported until May 2016."
